Baramati witnessed the first of its kind T20 cricket tournament, the KPL, in the year 2008 at the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Stadium, Baramati. KPL, the brainchild of Shri. Prashant (Nana) Satav, was conceptualised to provide the youth in rural areas with a platform to nurture and showcase their talent, which would help them progress in their prospective towards cricket and spread the enthusiasm of the game amongst all Baramatikars. The tournament has attracted professional cricketers from various parts of the nation, which helps create a liking for the game, further inspires the local youth, and provides them with an opportunity to take up cricket as a professional career. Since the inception of KPL, it has been organised every year.

The citizens of Baramati have shown immense love and support towards the tournament as thousands of people came to watch professionals who had come from various places like Jammu, Baroda, Delhi, Kerala, Karnataka, etc., and Maharashtra itself.

Many players who are now playing at national and international level, such as Sanju Samson, Rakesh Dhruv, Kuldeep Yadav, Prashant Parameswaran, Aditya Tare, and etc. marked their presence in numerous seasons in the Karbhari Premier League.

This helped our local talent gain experience and exposure from playing alongside such professionals. The massive success and popularity of the tournament, which was being organised every year, finally brought Baramati Municipality's attention to the poor state of the stadium on days other than the KPL event. Subsequently, the renovation of the stadium facility was done by the Baramati Municipality and inaugurated by Shri Sachin Tendulkar in the year 2014. Since 2014, due to renovation work of the stadium and the COVID pandemic in the later years, KPL unfortunately could not be hosted. During this period, we at our K.A.C.F. English Medium School developed a professional coaching curriculum for cricket and other sports such as Kabaddi and football. For cricket specifically, five astroturf pitches, five turf pitches, and one indoor pitch have been made for the training of students as well as other aspirants in and around Baramati. A professional coaching staff has been appointed to guide and coach the players to improve their abilities.
